History:

The first dog in our kennel was born in 1972 and was called Sorbus Cockney. He was a wonderful dog and became a Swedish show champion (SUCH).

Two years later, Sorbus Faust entered the kennel. He won three certificates at dog shows in Sweden (in the UK he would have been classified as an English show champion. To be a show champion in Sweden, dogs also need a second prize in an open class on field trail test. This is about the same as a full champion in the UK). Sorbus Faust was a wonderful family dog and was also used for breeding. When he was ten years old, he mated with Eaglebess Ritva. On August 19, 1984 ten black puppies were born at the kennel of Gunilla Jansson. Sorbus Faust died when the puppies were five days old, and we then bought a black bitch from the litter.

The puppy, Ronja (see picture), was the start of the Kennel Modus Vivendi history. She also won three certificates at dog shows and prizes on field trail tests. She was a calm hunting dog and a great family dog. One of her favourite places was in front of the fireplace.

Ronja mated two times with Mac Phearson av Viahund. In the first litter, Modus Vivendis Afrodite, Ares and Amor, all won three certificates at dog shows. From litter number three came SUCH (Swedish show champion) Modus Vivendis Cristmas Cake and SBCH (Swedish obedience champion) Modus Vivendis Coal Craftsman. SUCH Modus Vivendis Cristmas Cake was an excellent hunting dog and her favourite hunting included ducks and roe deer.

From litter number two, sire Stowlodge Stoddart, came Modus Vivendis Bumble Bee. She won prizes in the highest class in field trail tests and certificate quality at dog shows..

In 1991, a black bitch from Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt, Newinn Marshal Thornton, came to our kennel. She won a number of BOB in puppy class at dog shows and as an adult, she won certificates at dog shows and prizes on field trail tests. She has also produced winners at dog shows and field trail tests.

The mission of Kennel Modus Vivendi is to produce all-round Labradors for shows, hunting or just to be a loyal companion and lovely family dog. We only breed quality bitches to approved stud dogs with breeding clearances, including hips, elbows and eyes. All of our dogs live indoors with the family. Even our puppies are raised indoors with the family and are given very special attention and exposure.
